Installation Guide

Get your machine live in minutes.

Pick your machine type and follow the steps. No electrical or technical background needed. Gather your tools before you start - most installs take 15 to 25 minutes.

One device per packageThe sticker and device in each box are a matched pair. Never swap stickers between boxes. Finish one machine completely before opening the next box.
Turn off and unplug firstSwitch the machine off and unplug it from the wall before opening the cabinet or touching anything inside.
- Screwdriver - Phillips or flathead depending on your machine. Used to open the cabinet door.
- Flashlight - Cabinets are dark inside. A phone flashlight works. A headlamp is better since you will need both hands free.
- Zip ties - Included in the box. Used to bundle and secure wires after the install.
Make sure everything is here before you begin. The sticker and device in each box are a matched pair - do not swap stickers between boxes.

- Pixelpay device
- QR payment sticker
- 5-pin connector with female spade connectors on each wire
- Credit add wire (2-pin)
- Adapters matched to your machine type - the steps below will tell you exactly which ones you need and where they go
- Power wire if required for your setup - JST or barrel connector depending on your machine

Not every box will contain every item. Your box is packed based on your machine type. If something you need for your install is missing, contact support before starting.
The device has two separate jobs.

Job 1 - Listen: The 5-pin connector taps silently onto the existing coin mech terminals. Every time a physical payment is accepted, the device sees that pulse and records it as a play in your analytics dashboard. It does not interfere with anything.

Job 2 - Add credit: When a customer pays by QR, the device briefly closes the credit add circuit. That mimics exactly what a physical coin pulse does - the machine registers a credit. No coin required.

The adapters connect everything: Each adapter is a small pre-made splitter. You pull the existing spade connector off the coin mech terminal, plug it into the adapter, then plug the adapter back onto the terminal. The adapter gives the device a place alongside the existing machine wires - no cutting, no soldering.

- The 3-wire adapter adds both a listener and a credit add wire alongside the existing machine wire. Used on both terminals of the primary coin mech.
- The 2-wire adapter adds a listener wire only. Used on both terminals of any additional coin mechs. You only need to add credit once - extra mechs just need to be heard.
5-pin connector
The 5-pin connector plugs into the Pixelpay device. Each of its five wires ends in a female spade connector. One wire is ground. The other four are listeners - they are all the same function. Use one listener per coin mech terminal, plus the ground wire on the ground terminal.

3-wire adapter
Three male spade connectors go in - one from the machine, one from the 5-pin listener, one from the credit add wire. One female spade connector comes out and connects to the coin mech terminal. Used on the primary coin mech only, on both the ground and signal terminals.

2-wire adapter
Two male spade connectors go in - one from the machine, one from the 5-pin listener. One female spade connector comes out and connects to the terminal. No credit add wire. Used on any additional coin mechs, on both terminals.

Arcade Cabinet

Works with virtually any coin-op arcade cabinet - classic, modern, ticket redemption, or video. After the install, existing payment methods keep working exactly as they always have. Pixelpay just adds a second way to pay.

Step 2 - What type of connector does your machine have?
Open the cabinet firstOpen the coin door or main cabinet door and locate the coin mechanism area before selecting a path below.
Before you start
01

Check your box contents

Your box is packed for your specific machine. Confirm you have what you need before starting.

- Pixelpay device
- QR payment sticker
- 5-pin connector with female spade connectors on each wire
- Credit add wire (2-pin)
- 3-wire adapters - one per terminal on your primary coin mech
- 2-wire adapters - one per terminal on each additional coin mech, if your machine has more than one
- Power wire - JST or barrel connector depending on your power source

If anything is missing, contact support before starting.
Power the device
02

Find the power source inside the cabinet

The Pixelpay device needs 12V DC power. Depending on what was included in your box, you will use one of these two options:

- JST wire - plugs into the machine's internal power supply (PSU). The PSU is a metal or plastic box inside the cabinet with screw terminals labeled +12V and GND.
- Barrel connector - plugs into a wall outlet inside the cabinet if one is present.

03

Connect power to the Pixelpay device

- JST wire - loosen the +12V screw terminal on the PSU, insert the red wire, and tighten. Do the same for GND with the black wire. Tug both to confirm they hold.
- Barrel connector - plug it into the wall outlet inside the cabinet.
USE ONE METHOD ONLYScrew terminals or wall outlet. Not both.
Connect to the coin mechanism
04

Locate the coin mechanism terminals

The coin mechanism has two spade terminals - one ground and one signal. These are the two terminals you will be working with.

Take a photo before touching anythingThis is your reference if you ever need to reverse the install.

05

Install the 3-wire adapters on the primary coin mech

Do this on both the ground terminal and the signal terminal.

- Pull the existing spade connector off the terminal.
- Plug it into the 3-wire adapter along with the matching wires from the 5-pin connector and the credit add wire.
- Plug the adapter's female spade connector back onto the terminal.
- Tug each connection to confirm it is seated.
Second coin mech?Use the 2-wire adapters on both terminals of each additional mech. Same process - pull the existing spade, plug it into the adapter along with one listener wire from the 5-pin connector, plug the adapter back onto the terminal. No credit add wire needed on the second mech.

Power on and test
06

Power back on and run a test

- Plug the machine back in and switch it on as normal.
- The indicator light on the Pixelpay device will turn on when the device is powered. Give it up to 30 seconds to connect to WiFi.
- Complete a small test payment by scanning the QR code in your dashboard.
- Watch the machine - it should register one credit.
- Drop a physical coin in each coin mech and confirm each one registers in your analytics dashboard.
WiFi credentialsThe device will attempt to connect to the pre-configured network. If it does not come online within 60 seconds, log into your owner dashboard and update the WiFi credentials there.
07

Apply the QR sticker

Once you have confirmed the install is working, clean the surface and apply the QR sticker on the top glass or marquee panel where a player will see it before reaching for their wallet.

Power is supplied by the 4-pin adapter

On this install type the Pixelpay device is powered from the machine through the 4-pin adapter. The adapter has a JST lead that connects to the device. You do not need a separate power wire.

Connect the 4-pin adapter
03

Connect the 4-pin adapter in-line

The 4-pin adapter has a female end and a male end. Unplug the machine's 4-pin connector from the coin comparator. Plug it into the female end of the adapter. Plug the male end of the adapter into the comparator. The adapter now sits in-line between the machine and the comparator. Nothing is cut or permanently modified.

9-Pin DBA Connector

This connector type requires a multimeter to identify the correct pins and varies by machine. We walk through every 9-pin DBA install directly with you.

Why we do this one togetherThe 9-pin DBA connector does not have a fixed pinout across machines. You will need a multimeter to identify which pins are ground and which carry the credit signal before connecting anything. An incorrect connection can affect machine operation.

Let us do your 9-pin install together

Before you reach out, have your multimeter ready and a photo of the 9-pin connector and surrounding area. Most installs take about 20 minutes once we are on the line.
